Nearly 80 percent of Oregonians do not smoke. And the majority of Oregonians do not want to breathe someone else's smoke. So why should they? Oregon has lots of great smokefree establishments to choose from and now you can find plenty of clean-air choices all in one spot.

Are you interested in finding a smokefree establishment in your area? SmokefreeOregon.com features a directory of smokefree establishments throughout Oregon. Just click on your area and start planning your next smokefree outing.

Socializing at establishments that allow smoking can take a toll on your health even if it's just for a short time. A recent study shows that after only 30 minutes of breathing secondhand smoke, such as one could find in a smoky bar, the coronary arteries of healthy, young non-smokers are negatively affected. If you visit smoky bars often, you have a greater risk of developing lung diseases, including cancer.

And what about the people who work there? After an eight-hour shift in a smoky bar, a worker has breathed in the same amount of smoke as if they had smoked a pack of cigarettes . Secondhand smoke does a lot more than just make your hair and clothes reek.

If your favorite establishment currently allows smoking, consider filling out one of their comment cards and requesting a smokefree environment. The more people who speak out about this issue, the more bar owners will listen.
